Alistair Campbell received his Ph.D. in 2000 from the University at Buffalo. Before coming to Hamilton he was a lecturer in its Department of Computer Science and Engineering. His teaching and research interests lie in the areas of programming language and data structure visualizations, artificial intelligence, and semantic knowledge representation and reasoning (KRR) systems, particularly as applied to analogical representations for solving problems in bioinformatics.

His work has appeared in the proceedings of international conferences and workshops such as the SIGIR Workshop on Text Understanding and Search for Bioinformatics, the Annual Conference on Computational Genomics, and the ACM SIGCSE Technical Symposium on Computer Science Education. From the Air Force Research Laboratory in Rome, N.Y., Campbell has received summer fellowships to perform research on the problems of ontology alignment and semantic integration of defense department data sets.
